| I read somewhere before that Singapore holds this record for density of golf courses. Last count, there must be at least 20 private and public courses in our country of about 700 sqkm.
That works out to be one golf course every 35sqkm of land. And typically, a course with facilities requires between 0.5sqkm to 0.8sqkm of land.
So how many courses do we have precisely, 9 holes or 18.

| Well, let's do a count here (from west to east to north):
1. Raffles CC (2 x 18 holes) 2. Jurong CC (1 x 18 holes) 3. Marina Bay GC (1 x 18 holes) 4. Laguna National (2 x 18 holes) 5. NSRCC Changi (3 x 9 holes, or 1.5 x 18 holes) 6. Tanah Merah CC (2 x 18 holes) 7. SICC (4 x 18 holes) 8. Changi GC (1 x 9 holes, or 0.5 x 18 holes) 8. Warren CC (1 x 18 holes) 9. NSRCC Krangi (1 x 18 holes) 10. Sembawang GC (1 x 18 holes) 11. Orchid CC (3 x 9 holes, or 1.5 x 18 holes) 12. Seletar CC (1 x 9 holes)
12 clubs and 19.5 x 18 holes

| There is the short course at Mandai, a short course at Dempsey, a 9 hole course at Green Fairways (Bukit Timah) and one which used to be at Changi Prison (It was closed after the windscreen of a passing car got smashed). Of course The Istana has 7 holes and its off limits to 99.99% of the population.
However starting early this year, some of the ones will be gone to make way for urban renewal and highway development...

| Let's compare apples with apples. Singapore is a city/state and should not be compared with countries that have huge land mass that is not suitable for golf.
The right comparison would be for high density cities like Shanghai, Sydney, etc. Anyone knows how that works out?
