| Hi guy, I am considering getting this putter. All my odyssey putters I have used are in 34". Thinking of getting the above in 34", but they only come standard with 15gm weight insert. I like that heavier 20gm weight feel, but they come on 33" putter only.
Sales guy told me if I change the weight insert, it will affect the balancing and performance of the putter. Or should I get the 33" putter instead.... Am in such a dilemma...
Any advice on how I should correctly select my right putter?

| Putter is about your own feel.
Putting/changing weights will not affect the performance of the putter.
Sales guy is bullshit. Your hands and technique affect the performance of the putter. Balancing is about whether you like the feel of a heavier head or not.
Ron 92 or Ron 98 affect the performance of the car but weights on putter???? I disagree that any performance will be affected if the user is comfortable with the feel

| bear in mind that while u say u like the heavier weight feel in the 33", what you are feeling is not the weight of the insert, but the swingweight of the entire club. in other words, what you like is not the 20gm insert, but rather the overall swingweight 'feel' of the club
changing the weight of a putter head will change the swingweight, which in turn will affect the feel.
so yes, while putter is about feel, the weight directly affects the feel
That said, swingweight is affected by not just putter head weight, but also putter length and grip weight. As such, you can also consider experimenting with different grips and lengths of putter to figure out which gives u the best feel
at the end of the day, don't compartmentalise yourself. just because you are used to using 34'' doesn't mean you can't change to 33''. The question is which one you feel most comfortable and can sink more putts with

| Thank you guys for the advices. Think I may need to try the putters again elsewhere. All the scotties at GH are wrapped hastily with plastic. They just don't feel precise at the practice green | |

| You can change to a lighter grip Or buy 33" and lengthen an inch ( not sure If it costs more to custom order ). It's a good putter. Have fun with it | |

| I have personally like the heavier swing weight so have the 20grms weights on my 34" select. I bought the weight set from Scotty. Cheaper option although a little unsightly is to add lead weights that can be bought locally.
As what Scottycollecter has said, don't feel that only one length suits you. Have a try and preferably ask a fitter for help if need be. BFG is one fitter that I go to for my fittings but I'm sure that most club fitters will offer that service.
Good luck. | |

Pricing in GH is totally not worth it... overly priced. Think GH selling the Scotty newport2 at around $460 now during their year end sales. GD selling at $420 during the current promo.... Think it's really hard to resist the temptation. Tried the putter, feels really different (and better) from my odyssey
