Morning All,

I'm a beginner at golf and looking for advice.

I am looking for a putter. A friend is letting go of his Zen Zim. He is letting it go for $300.
My question :

1) Is the price ok for a 2nd hand putter of that brand/model?

2) The length is 35 inch, I will need to reduce it the length as it is too long for me. Is it possible to cut the shaft or I have to buy a new one?

3) If I have to go for fitting with this putter how much will it cost plus new grips and all?

I don't want to be spending 300 plus extra for fitting for a 2nd hand putter when I can get a new one for the same model?

Thanks for reading.

Can buy if the condition is good. Then again good is subjective to one.

You can bring down to big fish golf to cut the length of shaft or to get fitted.

Have you tried the Zen Zim? If you have and you do like it, then I think it's a good investment even if you have to pay a bit more to get yourself nicely fitted with a new grip etc.

Putters are very personal and unlike the rest of your clubs, you need to feel comfortable and in touch with your putter. You may think that it's not worth the extra $ but if you have a good connection with your putter, that little bit more would be worth it.

You'll notice that many golfers change their gear constantly (me included) but tend to keep to their putters for a longer time. Once you've settled with a putter and it works for you, it'll stay in your bag for longer (hopefully) so find one which you like, then decide if the investment is going to reward you in the longer term.

Weighing up the various options now.
