| undercover boss is a really good show, especially this particular episode with taylormade since we all love the game of golf!!! sucks to see so much waste from the old golf shoes though, but i guess that's just the way it is!

| Its more PR and branding than improving structure, P&L and real employee benefits.
Notable - shafts are not spined, balls are not really QC, the refund system is really abused and the CEO do not really know what all the adjustments are about.

| Free marketing for TM..I'm abit taken aback by the lack of knowledge on the products by the ceo given that he loves the game so much. Maybe he doesn't know the nitty gritty stuff but still I feel he could have shown more product awareness given that he wants to make ppl buy more of the products that they don't really need.. | |

Titleist AP2 7iron = 35 Degrees
No prizes for guessing which Iron will go further
I wonder whether the day will come when TM overtakes Honma as the lowest lofted 7i in production

| Not a shocker...they have been doing that for some time. I really think it is in response to the drop in 3 iron sales/requests. In order to still sell 8 iron sets 4-aw instead of 4-pw (which could still be considered a traditional 3-pw based on lofts), they have designed the clubs to perform at stated lofts. Right or wrong that appears to me is what they are doing.
At the end of the day the number on the bottom of the club is just that, a number. Yes they advertise distance and all of that. However, at the end of the day I could really care less if I hit a TM PW 140 yards, unless it is inside of 10 feet and gives me a chance at birdingo. The only clubs that I want to hit further and straighter are my driver and 3w/5w. My irons are about shot shape and distance control.

| Looking at DRGjr72's WITB and my own WWBITBOGSI (What Will Be In The Bag Once Golfsmith Ships It) the loft thing with Game Improvement irons is messing with our wedge selection. My iron set PW is 44 degrees. I had three wedges... 48, 53(bent 52), and 58. All was good with the world until I realized the distance gap between my 3H and 3W was too much. Enter the 5W courtesy of the latest GD sale. Great club ... but now I have to get rid of a club to keep it at 14.
Dave Pelz will kill me but I'm dropping a wedge by changing the loft gaps from 5 degrees to 7... leaving me a 51 (bent 52) and a 58.
I think even the new Titleist 714 AP1s have a 44 degree PW. 8 irons used to be 44 degrees, right?

| Going back to topic... Love them or loathe them, I watched the entire episode last night and it brings a tear to my eye
The employees that were tasked to chaperone the CEO (disguised as a new joiner) are such hardworking and honest people trying to do a decent job. They all have their personal struggles and it was heart warming for me to see the CEO responding to what they say and make a difference in the business and their personal lives
Cynics may say it may all be scripted but for what it worth, it was entertaining, informative (see how they handle ball manufacturing, demo day, returns, club assembly) and also moving for me to watch
Just wanna say to thread starter : Thanks for sharing!

| Nice to see a ceo going to the ground and see for himself what's actually going on. Seldom do you see the ceo of a UD$1.2B annual turnover co. doing that. Wonder whether our Temasek Holding CEO does that.
Whether he knows the technical details of the products is not key to the ceo. He is able to grow the business and that's what share holders expect and demand from him. Whether white or black cat, the one that catches the mouse is a good cat! TM's competitor whether direct or indirect will obviously has negative opinion of them. Tell me which other mass market brand spine their shaft?

| I am a big fan of the Undercover Boss series, for those who are similar fans, there are similar versions called Undercover Boss UK and Undercover Boss Canada and also Undercover Boss Australia, showed on BBC channel on Starhub
For the US version, it gives insights into various American companies, minimum wage and seeing the CEOs fly in their private jets to their off-site locations, then stay at doggy budget motels/hotel 181s are really starking funny, not to mentioned the fake disguises etc
if you want this series long enough, you also realize that the producers always manage to get some sob story employee and long serving, and then the CEOs gives a big bunch of goodies, $$ and everything seems better. It is indeed Marketing and trying to lift the US economy. But it also portrays the virtues of hard-work, loyalty, humility etc
for this TM episode, does anyone know what happen to the Tour rep Jarred? did he make it to Web Tour or even PGA after a 2yrs free TM sponsorship?

| Jarryd Lentz has yet to use his TM scholarship. He is still studying in University of Central Florida.
Probably will see him in the coming years on web tour first.
