Mixing different sets of irons in a bag

Hi, like to check if anyone does this, if you are very comfortable with short irons of a set and hit fairly well with the longer irons of another set you have, would you use these combinations in your games?

imho i believe this should be fine provided you have the maximum of 14 clubs in your bag.

Its ok to combine diff brand of irons n spec as long as we ve max 14 pcs in yr bag.  
There re manufacturer produces combo sets ie: CB 4-7 & MB 8-P. Brands like: Bridgestone, Mizuno, Titleist etc... 
As long as u can scores n be comfortable w it, its absolutely fine. 

That's what i thought, if i am comfortable, however what i was told is that they are different in terms of swing weight, feel etc and not wise to do so. Do i have to ensure they are of similar swing weight? Or if they are different, i can reshaft to achieve the same weight to get the same feel? I am quite lost in this aspect.

i do that on a regular basis. whilst technical details like swingweight etc do play a role, more often than not, it's simply of question of whether it works out in practice. ie regardless of the technical differences, do they actually work compatibly for you on the course?

from my experience, the differences in shaft and swingweight do not actually make much of a difference. take for example your hybrid vs. your short iron. the shaft and swingweights are probably different. but do u actually have a different swing for both?

the key point to note, at least for me, is the loft. this is because the loft will have a greater impact on your distance. So it's best that the loft of both sets of irons are identical so that the gap between your short iron and long iron will be even.

the answer is yes! I swap out pitching wedges or gap wedges . even play without odd number irons .  my last 5 club game had 5 different brands and type of clubs.

The loft has about 3 to 4 deg diff, length is also different. Am i right to say that if my swing is the same, these would not make alot of difference? Assuming i use the 8,9,PW,AW irons with longer shaft lengths and stronger lofts mixed with the 6, 5 n 4i with shorter shafts.

To play them all I carry a different model for each iron in the bag and rotate them with every game.
