| Strange thing is the smoke today is thicker than yesterday, but PSI is much lower, about 100. Yesterday was up to 371 lunch time. You can't see across the causeway. | |

Agree mate.. Think it's all rubbish and pile of shits.. Whats the point of providing 3 hour average readings when the current is already at least 350 ?? And are the companies sacrificing the health of the staff for economical reasons? Shouldn't they advise people to stay home unless it's critical they go to office.. People like yourself bro??

| relax bro,
SI reading is based on average 3 hours so u may feel it is 300+ now but it still read 200+ because it was 190 or 200+ last 2 hours!

| Bro Chien, Under NEA policy, government has left it to the employers to decide on whether to stop OUTDOOR work. However, there was no reference to INDOOR work. I reckon our garment (lead by SCHOLARS) are so confident of their PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM that they do not think (or FEEL) that average Singaporeans going to work are exposed to the elements when taking PUBLIC TRANSPORT to work. Nonetheless, I have told my people, if they do not feel well, see a doctor, take MC, stay at home & rest. Different ppl different strokes. Not all are built the same and can tahan these conditions. Hv a great weekend! - chien wrote:

| Yes ah.... but we can kopi first INDOORS during haze too..... hehehe Got time you can do google on the research report on "long term effects living in HAZE conditions at least 14 days in a year" I believe the US has done so for a few territories in Latin America. Perhaps you can share this report on NEA or PM's FB page? Cheers. - chien wrote:

| Can buy from POLYCLINIC? or government hospital? http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/sufficient-n95-masks-no/719102.html SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Health (MOH) said Thursday that there are sufficient stocks of N95 masks to meet national needs and that there was no need to stockpile. Large retail and pharmacy chains will have the masks available for purchase by Thursday evening, said the ministry. The government currently has 9 million N95 masks in stock, and there are plans to purchase more. At the first of the daily press briefings on the haze in Singapore, chaired by officials from MOH and the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, reporters were told that the 24-hour PSI for Friday is expected to be in the “very unhealthy” band of 201-300. Persons with chronic medical conditions, especially lung or heart disease, are advised to avoid all outdoor activity. Pregnant women, children, and the elderly should also do likewise. A special scheme by MOH will be implemented on Friday at polyclinics and designated GP clinics for the young and elderly suffering from respiratory problems and conjunctivitis because of the haze. MOH will subsidise S$30 per visit at designated GP clinics while Singaporeans will pay no more than S$10 at polyclinics. The government has also set up an emergency information portal for latest haze updates. In addition, the National Environment Agency will be providing 24-Hour PSI readings hourly instead of just at 8am, 4pm and 12pm. This is because the agency's health advisories are based on the 24-hour measurement, which is a better reflection of the total exposure of an individual to particular matter levels. Hospitals will also be making extra efforts to ensure the safety of patients vulnerable to the haze, said Professor K Saktu, Director of Medical Services at MOH. He said: "Patients who have got respiratory or cardiac problems, one of the issues they must deal with is to move the patients to an area that is not near the window where any changes in the exterior will be immediately reflected. Even if they get exposed to the haze, there is medical treatment available." - CNA/jc - haragolfer wrote:

Hallo.. 367 is 3 hour average.. Not current.. So if current is 500, you take the past 2 hours divided by 3 to give you 367..
