| Wow just browsing around the local news and found this..
Just sharing!
http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sgseen/this_urban_jungle/1832798/spore_golfer_drops_dead.html
A Singaporean died as a result of a heart attack while playing golf at The Legend Golf and Country Club in Johor on Sunday (June 10).
The 43-year-old technician at Sentosa Golf Club, Harun Abdul Kadir, 43, fell to the ground after missing a shot, but friends initially thought he was fooling around, reports Berita Harian.
Istaman Juli, a friend of Abdul Kadir's, was about 5 metres away from him when he fell to the ground.
He said, "After he made a shot on the 10th hole, I suddenly saw him sitting down. After that, he collapsed.
"At first, I thought he was only showing his disappointment and anger as he missed that shot, and I thought he was just fooling around, but then I saw him gasping for air."
Juli thought his friend was experiencing cramps in his feet after two to three hours of playing golf, but when he tried removing his shoes and socks, Abdul Kadir moaned and struggled.
His friends then tried administering CPR, while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.
However, when the ambulance arrived 40 minutes later, he was pronounced dead by the paramedics.
His brother, Saleh Abdul Kadir, said his brother had no medical problems that they knew of and did not show any signs of being ill the day before.

| I think the message should be:
Don't take golf too seriously, have fun and enjoy the game...

| I agree... I think to make the remark about JB is unnecessary. There's nothing which says that the poor victim would have been alive had the ambulance arrived within 5 minutes. | |

Maybe he also had a heart attack nobody knows. Or the guy who die after IPPT? such thing are more seem to be more common nowadays.

| It's quite bad to have to wait 40 minutes for the ambulance. | |

I know Legends is pretty deep in the plantation area but 40 min is really abit long right? I wonder if they have any medics or cpr trained personnel there. But in anycase condolences to his family. RIP.

| I am 46 this year end and have recently gone for a threadmill ECG test due to slight chest pain and breathing difficulty. Unfortunately I was recalled back by the polyclinic and was told that the ECG showed abnormally and suspect there is blockage. I am now waiting for my appointment to see a heart specialist and hopefully it's nothing serious.
In all honesty, I love golf but golf course is not the place I want to die in. I would rather die with my love ones around. At least I get to see them before I go but we can't choose the time nor place, can we?

| GRians, Harun is a friend, buddy and my sparing partner. We always play together at legend on every Sunday. Every night we hang out at clementi pro shop until very late. So sad to see him leave. Harun is such a nice guy, does not talk much. Easy to get along with. Always smiling when we joke. He's good in his game. Playing handicap 10 and very steady player. When he pass away, our circles of friends just cannot believe. Even his good friend who's not playing that day. And when I call him in singapore that Harun pass away, he don't believe me. I think if legend do have defibrillator, he might be alive today. Harun my buddy, I'm so sad to see you leave. May you been blessed and put in heaven. Allah love you more to take you away from us. Amin. I shead my tears while I'm typing this my buddy. So sad, hope your children will been taken care in good hands. | |

| Yes very sad indeed to see such young man 43 yrs passing like that so sudden while playing golf!
My fren also had heart attack at Palm Resort 2 years ago at the first hole he was 65yrs good golfer.. Heart attack must be saved within 10 to 15 minutes otherwise our heart will just stop beating.

| One of the reasons I picked up golf was that my cardiologist advised me to do so after I was diagnosed with "Sudden Death Syndrome" last year.
I had a life full of high level competitive sports, played for country and clubs. Cycled in a group competitively until dr noticed an anomaly in my ECG during medical... Went for tests and found out that I have this hereditary syndrome which causes accelerated heart rate and cardiac arrest. No warnings nor symptoms... Hence, my cardiologist advised me to stop all strenuous sports and he said, "Play golf, less stress on your heart."... Wait till I see him during my next check up...
Anyway, take care all and enjoy the game.
RIP to the fellow golfer.
