You can turn off this notifications from your profile settings. So you will not be notified by email each time there is a new posting on the thread you have been following or writing in. hope that works.

Thanks for sharing about the quality of the food but being a golf forum, I thought it was important for me to share what happened to us last week.

I'm very sorry to rain on this parade but my friends and I played at Ponderosa last Thursday but while the course was alright... It was the other things that screwed the day up. Course fee: RM145

1. The buggies we were given were crappy. We had to change buggies 4 times. Twice with flat tire, once with bad steering and the another lost power halfway up a climb. Tires were bald and just dangerous to drive.

2. Strictly no buggies on course... Even when it was "DRY"!? You must be kidding!

3. It rained heavily that day and we were huddled in a tiny I'll equipped halfway house for an hour ++.. We then scrambled back to the clubhouse with the slippery carts. Just f-ing dangerous!

4. Course drainage could not blamed. It really really RAINED!

When we told the club manager about the problems we encountered, he was apologetic. Stating that he had received 8 new carts but they were given to members first. But another 13 were on the way. But we stuck with the crappy ones!

We spent a total of 8 hours on the course that day including the time waiting.

I won't condemn Ponderosa but warn that you get better carts than we did.

Yes, the buggies there are not the best. And, no, buggies are not allowed on the course. It's not a weather thing. It's a general rule regardless of the weather. Ponderosa never allows buggies on the course.

For RM145... I think it's acceptable. But you are entitled to your opinion.

And don't get me wrong. I hate Ponderosa. It's got nothing to do with the buggies. It's really because I suspect that the devil's minions are bred on that course and no matter what I do, I'll always end up with a shameful score there. But that's just me.

@TS, shameful score at ponderosa? You can count me in. Come to think of it, you are either much better or luckier than me cos I have shameful score at any and every golf course.

Ponderosa is one of the better courses in jb already. To be on par or better I can only think of maybe 2-3 more. If ponderosa is unacceptable to anyone. I suggest don't tried any jb courses. Even the super expensive hh after rain also not that good.

My point exactly.

For that price, it's hard to ask for much else (except for workable buggies but I've had worse... think "Octville")

If the intent is to have better buggies, pay more and play in Singapore.

No golfer likes to hear that buggies are not allowed on the course even in dry conditions, myself included. In retrospect though, I am glad for it. Because what this tells me is that the club is very much concerned about the condition of its fairways, a good thing since I get to play on more pristine fairways.

And a little more walking is going to help more than hurt my health. At least that's the way I try to see it, so might as well try to make the best of the situation since I'm already there at the course.

But that's just how I handle the 'buggy on track' rule of the day. I feel it benefits every golfer in the long run with better maintained courses, relatively speaking.

As for faulty buggies, I believe any golfer with with some course time under his or her belt would have experienced this on one course or another.

Is being allocated a bad buggy avoidable? Possibly, if we take just one more step before the start of the round with a quick check on the buggy's condition.

Personally I prefer buggy on track. These courses are generally in better condition for play. The walking will do me good because I am very unfit. As usually it is tough, I play from white tee.......panting.... pale

I do not have historical prices but felt that Ponderosa is increasing their prices gradually.

As for buggies, yes it is lousy feeling if one breaks down but I hv not encountered this prob in Ponderosa.

I also prefer buggy on track especially for JB courses because the drainage systems aren't as good as what we have back home. Some may find it troublesome though because we may have to bring a few clubs to where our ball is and worst if the ball position is far away from the buggy track. But I still think it is good to do a bit of exercise and improve our stamina a little.

As for Ponderosa, the buggies are really in need for change for the safety of golfers. I did have my fair share of buggy breaking down halfway through the round.

Back to the topic, i have not visited the chinese restaurant for years cos I have the impression that it is not opened all the time. I have even totally forgotten the existence. Smile

Just played there last sat. Still one of the very best in JB. I saw they got a caddies now. Wonder how much they charge? Anyway the Chinese restaurant, I often see now much people leh.

Pulai Spring Golf club Chinese restaurant food there we had the last time was very good and price was reasonable especially the Pipa Duck..
