72 holes in 13 hours

Just wanna share my joy at completing the feat. My last record was 66 holes in 2011.

Did it yesterday at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi. It was truly memorable.

Started at 0608 and finished at 1924.

13 hours 16 min of non stop golf with my buddy here.

Holes completed: 72

Total pars: 32 between 2 balls

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of the days where I played holes of golf for charity....essentially the same thing.

Buggy bro. My goal was to beat 66 and try to complete 72. Worked out the timing and I and my buddy must do at most 3 hours per round. Fortunately we have daylight for about 13 hours in summer. Walking wld not be possible not because of fatigue but because of time!

Wow 72 holes??? Truly hardcore. The most I've done is 36. and after that I felt like I wouldn't want to play golf for 1 month (Of course i proceeded to play 18 holes 1 week later)

Played more holes in a day, than i did in a month. (heck, in last 3 months in fact)... need more game time

It can only be achieved on a day whereby there are only few golfers on the course and there wasn't any waiting/delay for front flight.

How much time did you guys spent on lunch/snacks?

How were the scores? Played well or bad?

72 holes. WOW!!! That is awesome!!! Wish I could do that but probably have to take MC for the next 2 days. LOL....I have only done 36 holes on the same course which I think its quite normal for most of us.

jurongtiger: congrats on ur feat! recommend next time u n ur buddy go downunder (say perth) during summer (dec-jan) where the skies are blue n daylight hrs are super long like 17-18 hrs from 430am to 10pm think u can break this current abu dhabi record ! lol

Yes you are right. Since I have done that 66 holes two years ago, I knew the pace I have to keep up to complete 72. of course, this is a planned exercise.

I pick my home course (I played there last weekend) so I know the course and all the holes very well, that saved some time.

There are at most 20 flights on a summer weekday here, very much unlike Singapore.

I am aware of when the crowd would come in on a weekday (Sunday is the first day of the work week here). So when we completed our first 18 in three hours (6am to 9am) I was telling my buddy not to be too happy since we would definitely bump into a few flights for the next 18. And true enough there were about 4 flights (of retirees, korean aunties) starting around the 9-10am slots.

It helps that I am familiar with the marshalls and they did help us to play thru by speaking to the flights in front, and letting them know we are trying to break the club record.

All our eating (breakfast, lunch, dinner), drinking (beers, coffee, 100-plus), peeing (toilets, palm trees), smoking, emailing bosses, answering the phone (work, wife, girlfriend), taking pictures were all done on the go, in the cart. We didnt step back into the clubhouse after we stepped out of it for the first tee at 6am.

Nope, we didnt rush through anything, that would take a lot of the fun out of the game wouldnt it? In fact we played quite normally, even with a bit of wager thrown in as always. Went through the same tee box routine, same putting routine.

Very surprisingly, and given that its entering the heat of summer now and the temperature at 130pm (I have a little thermometer in my bag) is 45C, we played pretty well by our standards yesterday.

Scores of 92, 92, 98, 91 with 14 pars, and I was pretty pleased.

But last 4 holes I couldnt swing the driver much and stuck to the hybrid off the tee. Hhaa

I think thats an awesome idea! The most light we would get would probably be 3 months later, between 530am to 750pm but still cant do much more.

18 hours sounds tempting.

Either that or I played in Abu Dhabi alone the next time and double up the speed!

Wow. Congrats. I hit my wall at 15 holes these days. I cannot imagine 36 holes for fatigue and you did 72! Respect

Awesome! I did 72 holes over 2 days every year n we always felt damn tired after that, how did u do it?..

Great work, must have thoroughly enjoyed yourselves along the way. Real tempting, wish I could do the same as well. Most I've attempted was 36 holes so far. Then, even with no one in front slowing down the pace, the weather was just be too darn hot to press on.
