| I was ALMOST sold by Mio TV into upgrading my current package... my contract is over and they have been calling every month to promote new packages (with contract of course). But decided I was pissed by the way they removed the Champions League without notice. Thank god i made that decision... now i am eagerly waiting to see Starhub's package! | |

| Did you see the statement that Singtel made on the cross carriage? SingTel said it was "gravely disappointed" with the decision as it disadvantages both consumers and the industry. Allen Lew, SingTel's country chief officer Singapore, said the company intends to appeal the decision and seek legal recourse if necessary. He added that the development also means that soccer fans can expect to pay higher prices to watch matches in future. Mr Lew said: "Once I have customers who are not sitting on my platform, I cannot subsidise them because there's no commercial rationale for me to subsidise them. So I have to raise the price for them. "Unfortunately because I cannot have differential pricing... Once I raise the price for my competitor's customers, I also have to raise the price for my own customers because the ruling very clearly states: only one uniform price." What rubbish! | |

| This news confirmed my suspicion. I have been receiving calls from mio to 'invite' me to sign contract. Luckily never falls into their tricks. Lol | |

| I gave up singtel MIO recently Totally disappointed with their frequent outages and unstable reception
Stuck with starhub all these while. Already heard the news long time back that both providers will share content.
Well done MDA | |

| This whole thing about pay-TV in Singapore is a joke!
Initially there was only Starhub. Becos "competition is good", so we have Mio TV. Instead of benefitting us, we ended up having to pay more and with 2 boxes. Regressing instead of progressing.
SingTel who knows nothing about the industry paid $400m for EPL. Downright stupid! It is like going rate of something is 10 bucks and you go out and pay 40 bucks. How dumb can 1 get.
Consequently we, the consumers are the BIGGEST SUCKERS becos we ended up paying more. Both providers do not have our interest at heart. MDA has a hand in all this so no need to be thankful to them.
As for EPL, it is just too much hype. So a few years ago, I had already dumped this sport channel. Allen Lew can go ahead and increase the fee all he wants. Good riddance to bad rubbish! | |

| Pay TV is a big business in SG. Furthermore it is very profitable with a duopoly setup. It is also with this duopoly configuration that price war is rarely seen. They pit themselves against each other through content or product bundling. The latest announcement changed their game plan. The operators are forced to think; something they rarely do. Operators are used to milking consumers through content. Explain our pay-TV situation to anyone from HK and they will have a good laugh. | |
