| 1) Have your game been improving from the past 6 or 12 mths?
2) What have you been doing differently and consistently to continuously improve your game?
Appreciate your sharing.

| 1) vs 6 months ago, YES. vs 12 mos ago, NO. This is because i went into a bad slump where my score avg jumped up by 8-10 strokes. I just get back to playing near my usual scores recently. 2) differently: change expectation, more chin chai, not focusing on scores. my coach change my chipping with almost no wrist cock now. and i started using belly putter (while still legal ). Consistently: changing my wedges | |

Bro, did you actually look into your fairway hit, GIR, numbers of putt...basically breaking down the departments of your game and focus on the weaknesses?

| 1)Personally not much over the 12 months period, lost couple of strokes per game. But I guess it comes with play regularly My regular kakis however say that it's getting more difficult to win my moolah.Have to par at least to win, which is good for me.
2)Have been working on putting and course management.Putting average have gone down, less 3 putts whihc helps a lot. Less chionging now, no point go OB,sand and water like what KSLS 18 hcp said. Less stress for me personally without having to match shot for shot. Can GIR, excellent. If not near pin and max bogey make the other guy par to win.

| I have improved ....now a days, it takes me a shorter time to realize why I am not hitting well
so fm a self diagnose perspective ....YES.
The challenge is how to fix it.

| @IGT: i did that. For me, it boils down to 100m in. my putting and shortgame. I lost most strokes from duffing chips, three putts, bunkers and inaccurate approach shot. After that, i start topping/duffing my irons/hybrids. vicious cycle. So jhan and shorthitter pointed my mistakes in short game. The change to belly is just a refresh. I had too many bad memories with my old mallet. Maybe my stroke hasnt changed. I did hole more med distanceputts which wasnt possible before. I didnt do anything to my long game except cut the iron an inch short and reduce swing weight to D0-1 from D4-5. Lost distance, so i take one more club and swing normal. Suddenly i dont top as much. I went back to my old driver and hit more fairways (thanks meia0765 for his suggestion). Mental side, i just accepted my form was lousy and just treat my kakis for good karma | |

I was one of those. As recommended by club fitter, my driver fitted with RIP Stiff Tq2.9, 3W with UST Attas 8S and Iron with PX6.0. They were absolutely great, helped my game................but only lasted me a few holes; simply because i wasnt fit enough to handle those equipments. And i chanced to borrow an old Katana graphite set for a round during my travel, surprisingly they worked very well for me and i enjoyed so much. I keep reminding myself dont make this s**t more difficult than it already is....

Same here.... Knowing isn't doing. Knew my mistakes and flaws, got coached but not disciplined enough to practice consistently.

I don't set high expectations and i think i am realistic in my score setting prior to games. But i tend to fail more than succeed simply for couple of blown holes, very2 frustrating.

| No. Why I'm the only one who deteriorated... Wasn't happy with my swing and grips 1 year back... So changed those. Changed driver, changed irons, changed woods, only putter the same... As result, scores went up by 10 strokes... Now slowly cutting down.. But, funny thing is I prefer my shots now, straighter, maybe longer, and less having to make offsets... Just more toppish and less consistent now than before... Well, guess that's another way of keeping me going back to the course... | |

| My games are still up & down. However, it seems to be more consistent these couple of months. Fairways still about 60 to 70 % ( I drove short so easier to find fairway), GIR % still low, putting 1.8
I focus and practice more in my chipping and putting, since I cannot hit long enough to reach GIR. I felt my chipping & putting improved.
In Oct, Nov and Dec last year, I spend allot time reading and learn about mental game. It seems to help .. At less, I am not blowing up holes as much as I do before.
I still remember just only 2 days ago when I am talking with DGman. He says " when business / works is good, family is good and happy. one will play good golf too " How true indeed.

| When i tried to hit longer, harder, aim for GIR, one putt, my game will deteriorate as I will lose my patience very soon int ot he game. I realised for me that it is always better to relax, go for consistency and steady swing, enjoy the game, dun think too much abt the score, then i will play ok. | |

| After my 4th lessons and with self practices in between, at last I managed to hit my 7i over 100m (beginner's standard lah ). If one ask me, I am happy lah but sometimes can really made me pretty frustrated and it's only one small white ball! But I still love this game! | |

Very good advice from DGman. My game improved slightly, got my 1st birdie at MBGC last week, but like Pak, cannot hit far, so must practice on chipping and putting. I think my flight mates had a good laugh looking at the way I chip. Would be very happy if my putting ave is 1.8

| My game is more consistent now. The key thing is not to match your your flightmates in distance, as that always screw up my swing. Swallow ego and focus on your swing to allow the club to do the job rather then go for distance. Things I have done in past 6moths: 1. Lower ego and forego blades irons. Change irons to BFG which are forgiving and sweet 2. Change all 3 wedges to BFG wedges. Though I cant backspin the ball, my distance is more consistent 3. Change putter to ZZW. Nice roll all the way to the hole. All 3 things I have done let me grow in confidence and trusted my equipment. I could now focus on my swing and let the equipment do the job.

MT your kakis have been very concerned about your improvement. so much so that they are now taking the route you took....come and see me....haha. but it was disheartening for them when you shot your personal best of 77 leaving many of them high and dry. but i like the fact that you are no longer looking to change equipment to try and buy a game and the last change to the ZZW i believe is the one that sealed the deal. the rest of the equipment was perhaps marginal in helping you get on the right track. last but not least, golfers must be in a happy place to perform best. no point fighting yourself to play golf, if you throw clubs, curse yourself, it can't be much fun..... the other GRian and BFG supporter in KL won the monthly medal a second time this weekend with one 9 under. so it will signal a new phase in his golfing life as he start to discover that he can actually shoot under and not just even par. it will only get better but he needs to take it one hole at a time, one stroke at a time and do not let the result overwhelmed him. have a great golfing year ahead.......DGman

| I have always try to convince my kaki to get a coach and also to visit u for advice so that they will not trial and error on shafts and equipment and get frustrated.. only one or two willing to listen due to ego.. I should not be changing equipment anymore unless there is BFG driver or woods... maybe a BFG golf ball?? PS: Nike Covert is too tempting not to try... lol | |
