We will be heading up to Melaka for a day trip and wondering which club to play.

Looking at:

1) Tiara
2) Orna
3) Ayer Keroh

Not looking at A'Famosa cos it's a bit further.

We've played at Tiara and find it quite decent. There were some holes where we literally had to fight of monkeys! Lucky, only lost some used tissue papers to them.

So we want to know if it's worth exploring Orna or Ayer Keroh this time.

Rates are about the same - give/take 10%.

Ayer Keroh is a tough course and same kind of condition to Tiara, Orna is the easiest of the 3 course ,but the condition isn't as good at the other two in my opinion .

I think Tiara condition is better.

But the tough part is that buggy only restrict to buggy track.
You have to walk down the hill to play a shot then walk up to pick the buggy.
Some holes are very hilly to climb.

Do beware not to leave any belonging in the buggy, heard that sometime people crawl from jungle to steal things from the buggy and golf bag.
The marshall said that these people are so good that you won't even notice they crawl to steal your stuffs.

So we always put wallets and phones in a bag, and carry along to be safe whenever we play any shot.

You can drive buggy to fairways in Orna, save a lot of trouble.

Hi, we are going to Melaka next week, could anyone offer an update on the course condition at Tiara and Ayer Keroh?

Thanks.

Hi,
An update on Melaka golf...
We went ahead with the plan and completed 3 rounds at 3 courses in Melaka. 1st we teed off at Tiara's lake course, followed with woodland. The course is of a good design, but the condition could be better. Fairway is trimmed, green is very fast. I give it an A- rating. In afternoon we moved to Orna. This is a course that seems easy, but actually is difficult, because of the artificially undulating fairway and green. The course is not in ideal shape, but playable. Green is much slower there. I give a B for the rating. Next morning, we played at Ayer Keroh, this course is very beautiful and tranquil. It's cow grass but surprisingly the course has a very good drainage system. We met with heavy rain but carried on to complete the game with a good impression on the course. Its green can still considered fast (no as fast as Tiara's though). Fairways in good condition. I think of an A- for it as well.

Overall, the courses in Melaka are not in the same league of those of top Thailand courses, mainly because of lack of maintenance. But they are next to each other, therefore making a short trip for golfing there very convenient and enjoyable.
