BFG Protoype vs BFG CB003

for those who have played both the BFG Protoype vs BFG CB003. whats the difference in feel , compared? any comments will be useful. Thanks.

Are you referring to the first run (without serial) and the second run (with acr serial)?

Or is bfg prototype an older version?

If the proto is an older version, dun waste time and just get the latest. Eric made design refinements to cog and cavity weighting every time and the last one is the most forgiving versions. Long too, i might say.

referring to the model without serial and with the "forged" imprint near the hosel. just want to know how they compare. have the old one, just want to know how it compares with the latest version. anymore inputs and comments?

Hi Nick,

that first prototype was smaller in size, had a thicker topline and was the first head we made to test the market.

the weight was about 4g lighter than standard and the CG was higher hence it was deem "less friendlier" than the current model.

the older prototype used about 20% milling and was using a cavity blank and was based on an open model which we had some influence over the perimeter weighting and design.

the current prototype which was design by BFG, use a solid forged blank made of 1020 carbon steel. It required 5 times more milling time hence the difference in cost, quality and playability.

you will be surprised that this iron heads cost more to make than most average cost putter (in manufacturing terms) out there.
