Mardan scores 10 birdies on Round 1

our local golfer has done something that he seldom do....go low on first round.

he is currently the leader at the King's Cup at 9 under.

there are 2 changes he made this week....the first one is a new shaft that he put in play a week before....



its the new Diamana B series 70S tipped a full inch and its also the first Diamana that i have seen him use.

the 2nd change......we are still waiting for confirmation on that one since all my spies have left the course.

Still, he is a seasoned professional and i am sure he knows what to do for the next 3 days.

Diamana B sold out.......including the one that is in my umbrella bag.....

he did msg me last nite, he is using the ODC putter but he thought the last session was helpful as the was doing over 30 putts in HK. all he needed to do was putt from the heart which was something that he finds difficult but its apparent that he is doing it this week and doing well.

anyway he is no rookie and he knows the art of winning. w we will meet up in BKK this sunday and i hope that he will win for the 2nd time on AT this year.

last but not least Sadam game with MM is planned for after the Johore Open, so more brave souls are needed.

PS those planning to spoilt the party is my friend Udorn, he needs to win to play and he needs the moola.....my other friend Chris looks like he needed the paper fuel too...and lastly do not forget about Atiwit...he is quietly gaining ground. i know he is working hard.

also look out for hole 8 and 13, those are 2 treacherous par 3......

MM is T-2nd after completion of 2nd round.

Great to see the other Singaporean pros, Quincy and LCB near the top of the leaderboard too.

But Lam Zhiqun seems to be struggling a lot ever since he turned pro. DGman, any insider info on why this very highly rated player is struggling?

i wonder who rated LZQ....

a golfer who wants to win on tour, has to be disciplined, his mind must be focused on one thing...the game of life and how to win in life.

i don't see MM or LCB on FB talking about slow taxi driver or poor reception at the hotel. i hear them talking about their striking, how THEY missed the chances and never blaming equipment, weather, flightmates or even caddy (if when its the case sometimes).

MM for example was able to rebound back after the fiasco at The Open and had closure to move forward. in fact i think it strengthen him.

Quincy is showing some signs that he is starting to move on with his game, i hope CTH will find consistency in his game cos he has the game to move him to the higher shelf.

now i know all three of the players at -11 very well and MM is against 2 very determined golfers, one is determined to put cash into his pocket and the other needs to stay in Asia and cannot afford to go to Q school.

it will be an interesting week and i hear the pin positions is going to get tougher today and tomorrow.

PS i am happy that young Atiwit made the cut and has a chance to go for a top 5 position....slim but its what golf is all about sometimes, you just never know.

This is in stark contrast to another new pro, Koh Deng Shan, who is doing much better but hardly gets profiled in the news at all.

My guess is that he is more well connected...

End of Rd 3...and MM sits on top of leaderboard at 17 under, just one ahead of Thai legend Thaworn.

Yippee! Hope MM can hang on and get that W tomorrow.
