It must be a huge sum to have him switch brand. Hope Nike can produce some new effective weapons for their players to win tournaments

| It might happen. I would personally think that its about time Nike find some 'new blood' .... just like when Nike signed up Micheal Jordan in the 80's and then created Air Jordan and Tiger Woods with Nike Golf. So who knows whats gonna happen right? It doesnt really matter who forges thr clubs anymore nowadays just like back then rumour has it that Tiger was playing Miura forged clubs under different brands. . So basically it makes no diff. Its the stamp on the club that matters and of course the $$$!!! | |

| Was reading an article on WITB of top players, many played Titleist. But don't see Titleist in most GRians' bag. It would be interesting to see major brands like Nike making moves. | |

| Tiger has been on Nike payroll for donkey years already yet Nike failed to create buzz and demand aside from maybe apparel and shoes. Wonder what would Rory change, if Nike still produce ugly clubs like the yellow box driver and the green insert irons
they need to make clubs like CPR again....Capt Duval swears by this hybrid

| Please say NO to Nike, Rory. Be very scared of the Nike Curse. Look at Ross Fisher, he was a spectacular player with Titleist before he accepted a Nike contract and then he disappeared for a few years. Anyone remember Anthony Kim? Go back 10 years and look at David Duval, he went from Titleist to Nike to oblivion.
I am not against Nike golf equipment per se, but looking back at these athletes, I wonder if their careers had been the same if they did not take the route. (Personal reflection: I wonder if I could be a scratch golfer by now if I do not change equipment every month? Hmm)
But on a practical note, with the $250 million that is supposedly at stake here, do you care if you win another major or not?

| Some may laugh at me, but I think Nike has some pretty decent equipment.
The bad thing? They spend too much on signing on players and too little on marketing their equipment.
That's probably their marketing strategy, to have great players showcasing and marketing their top-notch equipment.

| imo rather than scoring huge endorsement players, nike should pursue small wins like what TM and Oddysey does.
e.g. we know Luke is Mizuno player, Snedeker is Bridgestone player, Jim Furyk (used to) be Srixon player, but what drivers do/did they like to use? Taylormade's
they may or may not receive a single club endorsement from TM, but the fact that these guys are NOT playing Mizuno driver or Bridgestone driver or what have you, sends a message that TM drivers are the tour's choice, that these guys chose to play TM (or be paid by TM) instead of getting paid to play their primary sponsor's clubs.
these three guys also play Oddysey putters, not to mention keegan bradley, webb simpson, padraig...whole loads of top tour pros play Oddysey putters event hough they are not endorsed by Callaway (or maybe they are). Same message.
you still read abt the buzz when Olazabal played miura when he won masters, when KJ played Ping G15. these stories last.
I say non-Nike golf fans will pay attention if Rory stays with Titleist but putts with Nike Methods or if he leaves Pro V1 for Nike 20X2
anyone knows who in tour plays Nike drivers aside from Nike tour staff?

anyone knows who in tour plays Nike drivers aside from Nike tour staff? Bro, IMHO, i think there is some leniency that the players may choose other brands. Odyssey is very popular in Europe; in fact, i personally like Odyssey Tour Series, it feels really good but still stick to Scotty. And in general, TM probably produces the best woods. But really no clue why Tiger and other Nike-sponsored players play Nike's driver. And the yellow SQ FW that Tiger has been keeping in his bag like forever. He he...next wk at CIMB hopefully can get up close and personal to Tiger and sense how he smells like....

| The pros equipment endorsement contract allow them to have a say on certain clubs / balls they use. Depends on how one negotiates Eg Zach J (Titleist) sticking to seemore putter Kaymer (TM) using a ping putter
It's big money, and they probably wanna Milk it as much without compromising their play. Granted they can probably play any golf equip on the planet, but when it comes to being able to hit a tee shot on a tight fw on Sunday or the 6 footer putt to make the playoff, I'm sure they'll prefer something they can trust
