and lots of trial and error... http://www.golfrepublic.org/t887-the-journey-so-far-caution-pix-intensive?highlight=journey

I can't find my putter thread... still trying to find...

Only way to know what is best for you.

last saturday a golfer came in because his friend wanted him to check us out.

he brought in an mallet putter and i had him make a few strokes. it was off and he was mainly pushing his putt. so he asked me what he should do.

i handed him a putt which he said was uncomfortably short but nevertheless was producing better results. still his routine was not right and since it was quiet at that time, he had a quick lesson on the Zen Putting Invocation.

after about 45 minutes of practicing on the ZPI, he was making putts with just about every putter in the display area. again he asked me what he should do. i asked him to pick a grip and proceeded to adjust the lie, cut his putter 2 inches shorter and fix him a new grip. the cost was the price of the grip, nothing more.

he came back yesterday and told me his putting has improved and he is confident while standing over the ball and definitely making less putts (the irony). i hope his friend who recommended him will not be too upset when they play again.

for those who have been to the House of Zen, you will NOT be asked to buy a putter. you are invited to try different putter heads and will be recommended to take one out for a week's trial. if it makes your putting stats better, you can consider building one. if it is no different from what you have, why changed?

At the end of the day, its the golfer who makes the putt, how good is a putter is only known to the golfer and nobody else.

we believe that our first priority is helping golfers understand how to putt better, when they are better than they will seek the most accurate and therefore they will appreciate what's in a ZEN.

+1 for this. This is the way club fitting should go.

Boss, is this who I think it is? If it is, YES, his putting has definitely improved. He holed one from about 25 feet down a ridge. Scary putt.

PS....just go back to your routine and quit taking short cuts. you know what Nick said when he first saw you putt.

quit trying to analyze and focus on the task. repeat and do not change to try and find a different way of completing the task. as long as you do not have involuntary movements you are fine.

Thanks for the link. Interesting article..didn't know that eye dominance play a part in choosing the offset of putter.
