I was playing marine bowl 96-08 too. I still can remembered Super Bowl had the gold pins tournament.. Oh, those gold pins are damn heavy man, always cannot carry and leave Pin 5 and Pin 8. Kim Seng pins are also very heavy, played well at other alley, but go Kim Seng for competition always flop. It's also a mental game just like golf, round 1 you might avg 200 and tell yourself just maintain will do, but next day play like a beginner averaging low 170 Golf give me some satisfaction that I can never find in bowling althought both are ball games which require certain skills and time to pratice and master.

I only serious into tournament during my sch days, played a lot of national youth events. Took bus and mrt to some ulu alleys like victor and jackie, mainly because we were in youth league in thr old orchard bowl.......after that no more tournaments only league, went into the marina because a friend team shortage of members so ask me to join. Ya man, imagine carrying a 2-4 ball bag taking bus and mrt to other alley when they are newly open and wanted to try new alleys. Not like some rich kids got mummy to fetch them here and there and watch them having their coaching lesson, buying new balls and new shoes when new model are out.
Miss those good old days with my bowling buddy who goes everywhere together, always wanted the center lane of every alley to attract attention.
remind me of westside bowl when they just opened, need someone to season lanes, so we went for free, from 9 until 5 bowl for free...btw I like heavy pins like those in competition, give you a very crispy sound when u hit "strike" . That's why I normally bowl immediately when the competition is over before they change back to the old pins.
