Europe is really going down the drain so it's not going to be Barclays's Spore Open in 2013.

So we need a new corporate tag and wallet.

If Dubai's top company are promoting Race to Dubai, why can't Singapore top company and Tourism Board promote Singapore through golf? Formula 1 got Singtel, Horse Racing got SIA, maybe Golf can have DBS Bank? Though I worry the stock will drop even lower

finally, if we want to have a major tournament here. then we better support by watching it live or on TV hor. Viewership is needed to justify corporate sponsors paying for a big tournament here

For the good of the sports in the country, I rather they have several touranments a year with a average prize pocket rather than one big one where the majority are pros who are paid to come here and play.

unfortunately the timing for such this event has never progress smoothly and well. with this type of prize money one would expect a good showing and fair competition but this event have not earned any favours with the weather gods.

its a bit of a lottery and for most of the tour players, they have always felt that they are not given a fair chance with the 2 courses and the constant rain delay. i think they need to take out the bawan and the chilli.....or maybe they have to factor in the monsoon season and shift the dates. again thats tough as the big events are from spring to summer, US and Europe getting the priorities because of standing and history of the title events.

here's an idea, WSG should negotiate to swap Spore Open with Volvo China Open in April (right after Maybank Malaysia Open)

Travel wise, it make sense

In Nov, pros do HSBC WGC in Shenzen/Sheshan, then go for Volvo China Open in Tianjin
In April, they do Maybank Malaysia Open, then do Singapore Open.

It's a shame that our National Open is essentially up for auction, yeah I do agree with having it right after or before the Maybank Open. The Caltex Open in the past followed a similar schedule. Even that one got canned though.

Actually I don't understand why our MNC like Keppel Corp or DBS etc etc cannot come in? This event definitely put our golf scene into the world map.
