Have you hit balls at Golfhouse Paragon? They use this GC2 launch monitor that gives the ball speed, backspin, launch angle, carry, total distances etc

I thot the distance calculations were a bit too agressive, i hit 910D2, RBZ 3wood and Adams Super Hybrid and the shots were 15-20m longer than my usual shots on the course.

Do you find you hit longer on this launch monitor?

note: I just went to Golfsmith and GolfMart at North Cal and both use GC2..similarly, longer than my normal distance. I almost buy the RBZ wood there and then Rolling Eyes

by comparison, the Trackman at BFG gives shorter distance readings, which are closer to my real shots (sometimes i think shorter carry but longer roll readings)

I have the RBZ 3W.. played in last weekend in OCC ... went almost as long as my driver from the tee... but as with most Taylormade Stock shafts...it felt pretty dead...

Now in search of shafts for hybrid and 3 wood.... new project to keep me occupied..

i was so damn close to buying the GC2 until i called the guys in thailand. apparently there are 5 units in thailand and 4 have been smashed due to its peculiar positioning during use. it cannot be position at the ball but further out on the right. its easy for beginners to shank the ball and then disaster.

as for reading its a tad optimistic and the data base of trackman is still tough to match. the other good thing about GC2 is there is no license fee to be paid or yearly subscription.

I was thinking of getting the GC2 before as it is useable in a smaller space than TM, FS, etc that are based on doppler.

I had tried it several times and in terms of spin and angles, it is pretty much spot on. However, GC2 only measures ball charcteristics and does not really track the ball flight. Thus, the distance is simulated based on the ball images captured.

Here comes the trick... the ball flight calculations can be tweaked very easily given the same set of ball data (e.g. adj the latitute, wind speed, terrain roll, etc) so most shops selling golf equipment will set these to make your distance look longer in the shop... my suggustion to beat this... bring your old driver along, and "calibrate" the distance of the GC2 to make sure whatever driver you are buying is indeed longer.
