| I seldom go range....but I do practise swings in front of a mirror. In addition, I am very tentative to practise during my priceless once a month game.
any suggestion how to practise chip and run with such contraints?

| I usually do the "putt" technique around the green. I try to land the ball just ove rthe fringe on the green. Distance from ball to fringe = distance from fringe to hole, I use SW. Distance from ball to fringe is less than fringe to hole, I use 52 or PW. Distance from ball to fringe is more than fringe to hole, I use LW
More run means end putting stroke lower for me. Less run required means end putting stroke higher, or open club face a little (really a little, since opening more is drop-stop for me).

i Second the motion. Nothing beats practicing using "real golf balls" I used 5 wood / 4 hybrid / 6 iorn / 8 iron / Pw / Lw in Practicing chip/pitch & run. if the green is fast and downslope. I dont chip & run, but back spin my ball for a controlled shot using my 58*

I kinda blame my lack of experience in this area coz many times depending on the distance fm the hole, I kinda made up my mind on my shot selection way before checking the location of pin and slope....

I think this is a good tip. Only set back is my chipping technique is still not consistent. But alas, good approach to have. Will apply this for this Sat's game and I will only know if my chipping has improved. Thanks for the tip..

| From one who doesn't practice much except actual play, I have sort of play it this way after reading some articles on it. Work quite well. !) I will used my 60* LW with carry distance of 2/3 and let it roll 1/3 distance to the pin. 2) I will used PW for carry of 1/2 the distance and run 1/2 to the pin 3) I will used 7/8 iron for 1/3 carry and 2/3 run to the pin. It sort of work for me and on good days, it will get to 1-3 ft around the pin. BUT my putting SUCKS !!!!. Must be able to read the green with reasonable accurateness for it to go where it supposed to go to. This all on flat some slopes involved. On uphill and downhill, strength of stroke to be adjusted accordingly.... titu PS I will used a hybrid or 5 wood for distances of over 20/25 ft. Same 1/3 carry, 2/3 run. | |

| I will try to head to the course earlier to make use of the chipping green for some quick chips... or if you have time, practice after the game?
There are more to short game than what was brought up by many experienced bros... i.e. pin position, lie (up or down slope), speed of green etc... one advice i alw remember (from a old ang moh that i played with long time ago) was - do not try to chip in, rather aim to chip close by using an imaginary 2-feet circle around the pin... hope this help.

| try to practice using your Driver, 5 wood, hybrid, 6, & 8 iron
there are certain lie's where you cannot use your wedge.
but must used the above clubs
practice those 10, 15, 20yards
it will help you score better
