| Hi Guys;
want to do a quick survey: can apply to smoker or non-smoker golfers as well...
1) How many ciggies do you average finish on a decent 18 hole game? [for smokers]
2) How many ciggies you have seen your flight mates smoke on a 18 hole game? [for non-smokers]
3) Do you mind if your flight mate puff away if you are a non-smoker?
I start, max i ever finish was 18 sticks per game, meaning 1 cig per hole, which is quite a lot over a 41/2 hr period, nowsdays i try to limit to every 3 holes 1 ciggie...
if play badly, then the above rule goes out of the window...
i have seen flight mates holding a ciggie every shot, i think he was smoking more than he was hitting the ball... and surprisingly, played well doing that...

| Seeing that I don't smoke, I've seen:
2) How many ciggies you have seen your flight mates smoke on a 18 hole game? [for non-smokers]
Anywhere from 1-12 (depending on how well/badly they are playing)
3) Do you mind if your flight mate puff away if you are a non-smoker?
Not really, as long as they don't burn me with their ciggies.

| I used to smoke on average 10 sticks a day, more during drinks, mahjong & golfing. Each round, I'll smoke around 10 sticks for 18 holes. But now i've stopped smoking for 2 yrs.
And i don't really mind my flight mates smoking during golf cos it's open air, thus i won't suffer so much from 2nd-hand smoke.

| Nowadays, I don't bring my smokes to work. Only smoke when I get back, and even then it's about 1 or 3 max per evening. But once on the golf course, all hell breaks loose!!! | |

- Then choose days when you are holidaying and occupied with activities. Do cold turkey.
- Please note that you will be 'sotong' for the first few days.
- Once you have passed 1 week it gets easier and by 1 month time you will not have the craving BUT still feel the desire especially after meal and while waiting for your wife to change/shower.
- By the 2nd month if you try to smoke, it gives bad taste in the mouth.
- Only after 1 year then the desire to smoke is reduced.
The above works for me (proven a few times - occasionally I choose to become a smoker for a few months and quit using the above).

| I was smoking for about 10 yrs before i quit. However, i was lucky my body wasn't chemically-dependent, only pure habitual. And all those years i made it a point not to smoke in front of my family, which means most weekends at home i don't touch a single stick.
1 day it just occurred to me the smoking served no purpose, & i don't look especially cool with a ciggie in my hand. I also rationalized since i am able to go through 2 days (weekends) without a puff, i can easily quit.
Once i made up my mind on the night before my son's birthday, I double insured my intention (for myself) by making a promise to God (so i'll never dare break this promise) that i'll never pick up a stick again. After that i threw away what was left in the last pack i had (about 10 sticks) & never picked up since.

| Personally, I don't smoke because I'm scared.
I'm scared that I may like it too much to give it up.

Bro, it's only going to make matters worse. Put your ciggies away and tell yourself that you're a better golfer than that. We all go through bad patches and we improve. No point picking up the ciggies.

| I just quit smoking for about 10 days now.
Last round of golf 10 days ago I smoked about 3 sticks for the entire 18 holes!
I am on this drug by Pfizer, once taken your brain neurons for nicotine pleasure would be cut. Therefore you wld not feel shiok when you smoke. works pretty well for me.
can PM for details. | |

| Here is what I have heard... If want to puff during golf, pls do not leave your ciggies on the green or grass.....was told that there are 'chemical' applied to the grass...and if the butt of the ciggies touches it, then touch your mouth.....long term no good PS: I am not a puffer | |
