| Hoping to get opinions on what you think are the 3 best courses in Johor, in terms of course condition, maintenance, scenery, etc? Best, in terms of generally how pleasant it is to play there.
i've been reading reviews on the forums and it appears that horizon hills is very good. Which are the courses that are comparable?
I know that there have been many reviews on GR but am hoping to get some updated reviews as m'sian course conditions change over time.
Thanks in advance!

| Personally I like the PErmas Jaya 9-hole course ......RM20-25 per nine on weekdays....very good training ground.
I had improved fm a beginner to a seasoned beginner by playing on this course
the thing is that for most of us travelling into JB, the desire to play 9hole course is almost non-existent.

| i mean since is easy should shoot lower score than usual ... but always find it weird to play this course...cant acheive better score...shot better score at other courses... but is my point of view... | |

| We all have different preference and also varying degree of measuring playability vs fun. i.e. some attain joy thru conquering difficult courses, some simply enjoy playing stress-less golf that brings individual fulfillment in terms of better scores or lesser lost balls... I personally prefer the later. However, course condition is one of my major requirements when choosing the golf courses... Therefore, my personal 3 top favorites in JB are: (1) Ponderosa (2) Mission Hills (more difficult course) (3) Palm Resort Happy golfing mate. | |

| I played the palm resort few yeas ago, the course was in terrible condition & the hotel Sofitel did not live to my expectation, slow service & the food were cold when they arrived at the table! Hope it has improved since then.
Saw Horizon Hills on Golf Channel, looks pretty good, will try to give it a try.

I would suggest you go to Kukup. No flights in front or behind on Sat mornings therefore no pressure. Good for beginners. Have been bringing my colleagues there the past 3 times.

| There is a Mission Hills in Johor??
ok, my point of comparison is palm resort as that is the only place in m'sia i have played in recent times.
so, in your opinions, which courses are nicer than plam resort's courses? (condition, maintenance, scenery, etc).

| Nearest is Poresia through 2nd Link.. No fuss type of course. Many bros here are members there. If not can try Johor Golf Club from Woodlands. If playing weekdays, both are nearest to Singapore.
Kukup Resort Management Sdn Bhd Pekan Penerok, 82300 Pontian Johor Darul Taksim Malaysia Tel : +607 - 6960950 Fax : +607 - 6960963 Book through Oscar is cheaper. Hp: 96508609

| Want to kaypoh and add my two cents worth. The top 3 golf clubs in JB are: 1. Horizon Hills 2. Tanjung Puteri (all 3 courses are good) 3. Pulai Springs (both 18s) | |

| Horizon hill is one of the best with faster green challenging to putt and attack the green out of 100m Ponderosa relatively nice and good but buggy on track all the time.. Tanjung course A well maintain and very nice scenery

From what I know, JB courses are interested in your money only. Singapore courses more on-the-ball on weekends but weekdays some courses don't bother to check except MBGC and NSRCC.
But MBGC allow you to play without a handicap or PC and will ask you to take a swing test for $10.70 and will issue you a receipt that is valid for 1 month. In other words, if you can swing you can play. Come to think of it, it does seem they also want your money only since you have no handicap or PC card. This is the brutal truth.
Unless the green fee in Horizon Hills include the insurance did your friend without the handicap card have a golf insurance? Can be quite risky even though the possibility is high odds.

| I dont think they check HC in JB. I only know they 'sell' HC. I like to bring my beginner friends to kukup as there is no pressure - becoz no one is there I know that normally we play unlimited on weekday and a game on the weekend, together with stay (twin share) and makan and share transport cost, there is change from SG$200 - Good deal for 2 days of golfing and makan... | |

| Training ground would be poresia golf course which is 15 mins from 2nd link. Decent fairway though... | |

| No love for Legends? Travel time about the same as Palm Resort and Tanjong Puteri.
