| Still here in the California~
For those who are following me on twitter or facebook would have all the troubles and experiences i am going through here.
Anyway, this kinda pop up in my head here observing at how the Americans conduct themselves...
When it is a table full of guys at 1 spot, all the French and the Colour starts coming out in the conversations. whereas, if it is a table or a group of mixed gender, the conversations become somewhat civilized with not much foreign language and colour.
So do we gentlemen here in Singapore also restrain ourselves in our language in a similar way here in Singapore?
What is really interesting is a third kind of group I saw; predominantly male with maybe 1 or 2 females in a big group of ten. I am assuming that the ladies are the partners of one the guys there, judging from her body language. The guys will start talking colourly and the lady will just keep quiet and be distracted elsewhere, wanting no part of their conversation, but if there are just 2 ladies, they will be engaging themselves in their own little private conversation.
i do not know about u guys, but this just sets me thinking alot. | |

| dunno.. I not gentleman; and I don't think much Oso; you're generalizing.. Americans are a big mixed bunch of ppl; you've only seen a small sample. You can see the same group behaviour that you observed here in Singapore also. | |

| Good observation. Very often this occurs around us too. My take is this - if a person is full of colorful language among the guys, why control himself with the ladies around? When he does that, it means he knows his colorful languages or topics are not so nice, & since it is not so nice, why even bother to use them in the first place, even with the guys? So he can be easily accepted as being 1 of them? You are what you are. Be yourself, around any gender. If you feel bad about using French in front of ladies, then do so too around guys. I am not being 'holier-than-thou', but merely voicing my opinions. It's not meant to offend anyone. Peace.... | |

| I don't see the difference either and I lived in SF for a while. If there's any difference, it's in the size of the portions of food served | |
