very impressive and thorough training to ensure qualified and competent professionals. Why then is to becoome SPGA pro only must play 2 days of golf scoring +6. Then can become instructor and screw up golfers swing

Its one thing to be a golfer but to be certified club fitter, its another story. There's a lot of science and physics at work. I stick to playing and let Eric do all the thinking... Embarassed

To summarise, if can play to 6 handicap for 2 days and pass Pro test then can call yourslef Professional. Next day can start to give lesson and charge money. Scary.

Think its best if you can send your comments to SGA or SPGA if you feel so strongly about it, Smails.

Otherwise, I think its pretty good idea to have a structured program to attain a certification for club-fitting.

Hi

this is very interesting..and I do have thoughts to learn more about club fitting.

I guess the written test are pretty straight forward.

Could you tell me more about the hands on training that you will be conducting in Bigfish ?

Thank you.

dear golf_snowman,

all the club making modules from the grip (size, building up, regripping), to the extraction of shaft to installation (hosel and bore through), sw adjustments, frequency matching, ferrule finishing, repairs, loft and lie adjustments, etc....most of the technical stuff. after that it is practice, practice and practice.

the most difficult head to extract are the callaways with graphite top like the FT-5 but with practice taking out a head, while saving the shaft, can be done in under 8 minutes.

as for fitting, there are different evaluation platform. as we are moving to the TM, it is an entirely different platform and not many clubfitters use that at the moment so we are still updating our own knowledge base a the moment.

Join ICG first....

then decide wether you want to play play or seriously want to learn for hobby or for professional reasons. if you just want to learn a little you can always drop by the studio to pick up some skills and scent.

we are only doing it for the ICG members as well as the distributor of our products.

thanks...DGman
