LOL... I found only for the blue tees (will probably play white) from an old file:
Men’s Blue Tee*, Course Rating 73.3 & Slope Rating 135

Anyone has a clue on white. It's for my exact hcp calculation.

I agree, especially the slope. Most holes are uphill to the green and uphill to the tee box. It took my breath away just to reach the tee box. Imagine driving the ball or putting while heaving and huffing for breath.

Pretty fast greens (par with HH).

OB & Forest on both sides. Must drive ball in the fairway. It is very punishing (Stroke & Distance) to have a crooked drive at JGCC. Next fairways are bordered by tall/dense trees.

Bunkers are not soft, not powdery type.

Par 3 from the blue are long (175-200M) and has small greens.

Chipping area is generous though. I dont think chip and run works well in JGCC. You need to check the ball because of the small greens.

Fairways are soggy, so expect no roll. Lots of plugged lie (treat with free relief)

The last time I played, I don't think the greens was that fast. Definitely not as fast as Horizon in my opinion..

But the greens are really small. To get GIR is kinda tough...

I do agree with you PS that you need to check the ball to get close, if u can't check it, most probably it will end up to the other side of the green...

A lot to stairs climbing to next tee, mostly walking uphill to the greens. GIRs are pretty hard to achieve with the small greens, and it seems easier to align shots from the blue tee onto the fairway as compared to the white. The white tee angles sometimes got overhanging trees. Oh ya, if drive into the jungle, got alot of red ants.

First time i played there

Hole 2 (i think). It was a par 5 where the tee was at the bottom and the green was up the hill!!! About 400 yards i think. That hole took every bit of energy out of me! After that, my clubs served as a walking stick when i am not hitting.

I also agree that you gotta be able to check the ball but it's not easy at JGCC. The fairways aren't all that wide and if you land in the rough or semi-rough, it's tough to get spin.

So, I typically play short of the green to let the ball run. But when I intentionally do that, the ball checks. Sigh.

After the comments above, I am starting to doubt if I should play Johor GCC...
Maybe swap to Tanjung Puteri, Pulai Springs or Ponderosa?

Besides Duval wasn't it Denmeister who plays a lot at Johor GCC as well? Maybe he has some good tips/info.

TS, it's just the soggy fairways..so the ground will absorp the impact so much so either the ball plugs or will not run at all. Roll is non existent in JGCC except for a super thinned shot. Case in point: Hole 10. I've seen it everytime. You hit it short, the ball must be plugged. Hit it on the green, it will run over.

JGCC gives advantage to long hitter. They can hit wedges to the green, even from blue. ZX and Chippy were having a field day with their wedges. The only short par 3 (downhill) 135m fr blue. I hit 7iron, ZX hit a vokey wedge Laughing

Nientsu, you are so on the spot. Hole 1 was so nice, walking downhill etc. Then a rude awakening by Hole 2 onwards. My legs gave away thereafter. It's like walking on a soft sand, and its uphill Laughing

yes, he is the member there. His stamina was so good, hitting it better at the back nine. No signs of huffing and puffing.

the thing is depends on your distances. If you are long hitter, ZX/TFP/KLT can equally give good tips. If youre shorthitter, here is Duval's mantra: just keep it in the fairway, and one chip one putt lah Laughing

Hi Guys,

How can you score in RJCC?
Well, I have played with shorthitters and long hitters and have seen their different strategies to tackle this course.

One thing in common for both kinds of golfers (Short and Long Hitters): Short game must be sharp.

Reason: RJCC has soft aprons and hard greens. For golfers who are not accustom to play here, they will be rather baffled why their usual chip and run does not work. If you do decide to attack the apron or chip outside of the green and run the ball in, this course is not the place to do it. A lot of plug balls around the apron. I have only seen one golfer who uses 7i / 6i chip it really low so that it skims the apron and runs in. This is definitely a skill that is special for RJCC regulars. By chipping low, the apron will absorb a lot of the impact but due to it low trajectory, the ball still has enough power to roll into the green.

If you have the distance to try GIR,

If you have the distance to try GIR, the greens do not hold very well, unless you are able to spin it reaaaaaaallllllyyyy well. Else, you will need to have a good short game when you ball lands on and rolls out to the apron.

RJ is also a mature course with mature trees bordering the fairways. If you stray into the jungle, just bite the bullet and chip back out to the fairway. The hero shots have very low success rate. Balls ricocheting like a pinball from tree to tree is a common occurrence.

With its undulating fairways, having the skills to hit downhill / uphill shorts are a necessity.

But first and foremost, if you are not used to walking, just come over and gauge your fitness level by walking the 18 holes. Forget about scoring well. Focus on staying alive and drinking more water while you drag your fat butts through these 18 holes first.

If you are accustomed to walking this course, then you can start focusing on scoring well.

You guys want a hole by hole narration on how to attack each one of them?
