Student withdraws from RSS training as a local pro told her that the swing is not suited for her.

Here are the tournament results from last year to this year. I particularly note the National Inter school championships at MBGC. Scores improved from 107,93 to 82,88 and she won the event. The final tournament is under new said coach.

Not sure what else to do here. Gone from shooting high 90's and 100's to low 80's and apparently the swing is not suited to her.

Time will tell and I hope she does play well under her new coach as she is a nice girl. I also reiterated to her that the door is always open for her to come back if the new coach does not work out for her. Its a shame because I put a lot of work into this girl. I think maybe the father has some influence here

I also want to apologies for using the term "dumbest." I should be more sensitive

Paul they are your customers too. Shouldn't just comment about their intelligence level

This is the whole point of the thread "if you can't hit a 70 m pitch then how all of a sudden can you expect to hit a 200+ m drive."
I told him I could not improve his driver until he grasped some basics first.
He wasn't prepared to take my professional advise so best thing to do was refund. Maybe other coaches out there have a magical formula for his needs but I don't so why waste his money or my time.
Also if he had been clear in the 1st lesson about his goals, I would never signed him up to start with.
Some good comments and feedback. Having Luke Donald as world no. 1 is great to see and gives us shorter hitters hope that we can still play low scores without the longest drives.

Drive for show etc etc and it's how you arrive are more important for enjoying the game in my opinion

In light of this, I feel you are absolutely right. If the student does not want to learn the basics like chipping and pitching first, and instead insists on learning the driver after 3 lessons, then it is pointless for either party to proceed further.

A bit like wanting to learn how to write novels without learning grammar and vocabulary first, it will be an exercise in futility.

A wise move on your part.

Back to the matter at hand, I believe that there's always two sides to a coin and it's good that Right Sided Coach filled in the blanks for better perspective in the end. He's been a coach for too long I'm sure to just have a knee jerk reaction based on just one statement and refund the fees to the student.
