Couple 'make love' during riots



A couple seemed to be make love on the streets of Vancouver ….right in the middle of a bloody riot which left 150 people in hospital.

The Sun reported crazed hockey fans turned a shopping district into a warzone when Vancouver's team the Canucks lost 4-0 in the Stanley Cup final to the Boston Bruins.

Riot cops fired tear gas in pitched battles as drunken mobs overturned cars, torched buildings and threw debris at cops.

Richard Lam photographed the unidentified couple — in their late teens or early 20s.

However, a witness claimed the girl had been hurt and was being comforted by her boyfriend.

The onlooker said: "The girl who was knocked over landed head-first on the pavement with her boyfriend landed partially on top of her.

"She was in visible pain, crying, but the two officers gave them a parting shove and moved on.

"Bystanders went to make sure she was OK."

Health officials said three stabbing victims had been admitted and one man was in a critical condition with head injuries after a fall.

Police chief, Jim Chu, said nine officers were injured, with some suffering bite marks and 15 cars were torched, including two police vehicles.

He called those who incited the riot "criminals and anarchists", and said officers identified some in the crowd as the same people who smashed windows and caused trouble through the same streets the day after the 2010 Winter Olympics opened.
