| Hello guys... New golfer, trying to join new forum in hope of finding tips, golf kaki, and What can I say about myself... First drove in November, first to the course in January with PC. First time got my h'cap card in Feb. Best round ever was 98 (wonder how I played that! Never able to do that again since!) worst round 130 ... so now probably been to the course a dozen or so time. "Normal" play (including those disaster shots and ensuing penalties - about 100-110). Totally addicted, finding it hard to get kakis who is willing to do weekly at least 18 with me hence coming here! Hope to find myself in the right place! Looking forward to enjoying the forum (and some rounds with forumers, hopefully!). | |

| Welcome, DWK. Congrats on breaking 100. Never done it again since and shooting up to 130, with disaster shots and penalties resulting in 110. Sounds like me when I was an enthusiastic beginner. It's fun to go for every hero shot, the curving hook under the branches around the tree trunk flying over bunker to attack the green, the towering pitch clearing the tree tops, etc. Of course, my ego and ambition tend to out-reach my ability, and a few hacks later, I find myself still under the trees, the ball caught something and bounced into worse positions, Kevin Na style. I would recommend getting this book if you don't already have it. Dave Pelz's Damage Control Pelz scientifically proves why playing conservatively, identifying risk levels of each shot and choosing the one that fits your ability will instantly lower your score. Enjoy your stay. | |

| Thanks Lee. Kind realize Pelz's point.. now I try hitting less hard but with more control - stroke starts coming down again.. Cheers, | |

| Hi fellas,
I'm also considered new I guess, having just taken up the game about 5mths ago in Bangkok. Don't have a PC but working onto getting my HCP Index within this year after I'd all polished my fundamentals thoroughly.
Currently still working in Bangkok and head back to Singapore once in a while. But my stay in Bangkok's probably going to end soon and I guess there will be time to meet you all up in the future at the range or for games!
Cheers! | |
