| gonna buy me a new club next week on my business trip....
had my mind set on a hybrid... the callaway RZR... but today reading through golf digest, the hot list edition... read that for a slow swinger i would get more distance with a 5 -wood than a hybrid(both having the same loft with the wood having a longer shaft)...
as i am still new at this golf thing... i havent really explored the gap between my long iron and driver in my bag... had an r7 5wood for a while.. which i gamed and loved... getting good distance but not much consistency ie.. slicing most times... now gaming an adams 4 hybrid.. liking it at first, consistent, but distance isnt that great... not i am thinking of buy a new 5 wood.... i know it is due to my swing( which i am working on constantly) and its up to personally preference and i have to hit it myself... blah blah... one man;s heaven another man's poison... blah blah...
just want to know.. if anyone here have gone through the same ie... wood swapping to hybrid then wood again... or happy with their hybrids.. or always be a wood person(i know a friend who has a 7-wood and say he cant hit a hybrid to save his life).. your opinion is appreciated...
thanx | |

| That's me!!!! I gamed a Burner wood when I first started out. Totally cannot hit! Gave up on woods and stick to my hybrids of 22 degrees and 18 degrees. But current max distance I can get from the 18 hybrid is 180 (though potential for more still there), so backside itchy.
Went to try someone's titty 4 wood, instant gratification! Never came across a wood that is so easy to launch and gives me 190-200 m. Next thing I know is heading to bfg Keppel to get the WMD. No regrets and totally happy!
So go ahead with the wood. Why not!?

| I'm guessing the reason you ask is you need opinions that could be applied to your situation right? Im saying the obvious, rather than asking forumers, I'd suggest you join the range sessions and test their woods/hybrids. But if you really really just want to hear people's story then sure...but then so what? End story will be: Blah blah blah....you still wont know if you need to buy that 5 wood GD suggest hor. btw here's my story: I couldnt hit woods as beginner so i preferred hybrids. After a few years, now I can hit woods, so now I dont have preference over one or the other. I use woods to reach +180m and I use hybrids for 160m-180m. there is a lot of wisdom in those blah blah blah | |

| PS,
Now this trigger a question (hahaha):
Whats the advantage of woods over hybrids? Is it that the industry has not want to move away from woods or there is really something thats worth knowing?

| bro Sam...have no idea. I have not experimented with a 7 wood. That would be a perfect battle between a 4 Hybrid and a 7 wood. If only the 910f is not so expensive, I would just buy a 7 wood. Now you poison me hahahaha
I only know that my longest hybrid is a 19 degree and I cant reach targets beyond 175m with that club. also I found hitting hybrids heads easier than hitting most woods, except the 910f.
Drizz0, give the 910f a try.

| Ytd at d range try out a ping 5 wood and 09 rescue 4 .the distance for me slightly the same ard 200 m. The feeling is different, maybe should give a try on course then can make a conclusion. For hybrid I dun like the weight of the head. But I dun feel is easier compare to woods. But woods give me a nice lauch everytime. Or mayb I should train more on my hybrid. One opinion is never try never know. | |

| 09 4 rescue (22 deg) carry 200m???? Wah lau monster liao DGman just got beaten hahaha man if you hit your 4 hybrid as long as your 5 wood, you should train more in the WOODS, not the other way around | |

| For the same degree loft:
Hybrids seem to launch higher, and land softer.
Woods have a lower more penetrating trajectory, which is especially useful in windy conditions.

| personal opinion.... if yr swing is not consistent, i think hybrid gives u a better chance..... when in rough or difficult lie, hybrid is "easier" to hit over wood...... but if u have a more consistent swing n knows yr strength/weakness, perhaps the wood might fill some gap in yr distance..... btw, range mat will nvr gives yr the true distance or sensation from the actual green.... u can duff abit, fat abit and the ball still takes off in range..... try it on the green... | |

| I would suggest going for the hybrid ... after using that for a while miraculously I am now able to hit accurately with my wood also ... | |

| I have both.. hybrid #3 and wood 5 almost the same distance, but hybrid 3 easier to use in the rough, of course... so it's more versatile. | |
