Volvo Ace of Clubs @ WGCC Goes back To Its Roots

This Saturday's novelty game in WGCC hosts the annual Volvo ACE of Clubs, what is different after 8 long years is it is going back to its roots.

Each golfer is restricted to carry only 4+1 clubs in the bag, that is where the name 'ACE of Clubs' is derived.

The (+1) is obviously your putter, if you were playing my qyestion is .....

For me:
1. Driver..to allow tee off so as to maximise distance
2. Hybrid 18deg...mostly 2nd shot
3. 7 iron...to pitch and 2nd shot
4. Wedge 52deg....just in case lucky to end up in green bunker

3 wood off the tee, and fairway hit for par 5s and long par 4
4 iron for long par 4 approach
7 iron for mid and choke down short approach
sand wedge for 100yds below and chipping, pitching, bunker

if i playing, I'll study the course first then decide what to use, for sure will bring my 60 wedge as I only chip with that. the rest will depend on how well i hit them and how I can fit them to the course

1. Driver : to tee off
2. Utility/hybrid : fairway or even long par 3 hole
3. #8 iron for slightly longer pitch or fairway shot
4. SW : for bunker, pitching

1. 3 Wood
2. 4 hybrid
3. 7 iron
4. SW

- 7i ( for >150m)
- 9i (for >120m)
- LW (Sand and 80m shots)

Putter.

that was how my set looked like when I was 14yrs old. (5 wd instead of hybrid and SW instead of LW then). Really simplifies your game and improve your shotmaking skills.

basically the SW is there to cover additional shots from all distances should i misshit

i think mine will be something like this,

4hybrid (175m)
7i (140m)
P (105m)
58 wedge (70m)

putter - throw away... have machiam like dun have... always miss putts... lolz..

chip in
or putt with your hybrid

no la... LL stick putt with putter....

but i prefer more wedge..... since they are the most comfortable clubs i can play...
will always aim all shots into green <100m... even if it means 3 on to par 4....

Though the clubs are a bit different but they cover the same distance, here's my selection for saturday....

- 5w (versatile long distance club with knock down shots capability)
- 6i > 150m
- 9i > 120m
- 53wedge (sand to 80m shot)
