Bought some 2 nights ago at Senoko liao.
Not a fan......but family likes.

Double fillet with the special sauce sounds nice.

the famous store at hong lim sells the cooked ones...sometimes not so bad la!

Had Salmon Belly with Wasabe instead.

白肚鱼 is still the preferred traditional dish though.

White spotted rabbitfish. think you can find some images if you google..

it is not the eggs, we want the male fish with the good stuff. You must be Teochew and OLD SCHOOL also ex- Kangka to understand all this. Happy new year

I'm not old school Teochew; heck I'm not even Teochew, but I like to eat (but I'm not a big fan of this pek tor fish)

It's the fish milt that is prized. Around this time, they get ready to spawn and so have a lot of milt/roe. I think the belief is eating it will bring good fortune.

These fishes spawn only during the Chinese new year period.

Best time of the year to eat it
Yummy!

I was just trying the 'delicacy' with my mum.
Errrr .... I didn't really like the 'special flavour'
Nothing awful, just not used to the taste
