Hi All,

Need some help for family out to Kuching in March, which I am making plans for.  If you have any info on the golf courses there, please share...most grateful.

Questions:
Where to play?
How much?
How much to tip?
What are the conditions like (Pics)?
Is it suitable for beginners, i.e., there aren't 100 balling eating obsticles.

Thanks in advance.

FYI...I've checked this site but I don't know how stale the info is.

You must try Hornbill which is up on the mountain but the journey there may take 1-2hr depending on where you are. This course is beautiful and quiet, and its really good place to have an enjoyable and relaxing game. The few times I visited, there were only a few flights playing.

There are 2 courses worth playing :

Damai GCC. Next to seaside, near Kuching town (30 mins driving). Good course design and conditions, buggies in fairways.

The Sarawak Club. This is not listed in the weblink you gave above, but it's a challenging course, tight and long fairways. Beginners will find it hard to play without bringing half a dozen balls. Fairways is better than Damai, because it's relatively newer.

Other courses are Hornbill. Mountain course, usually with soggy fairways so bring more balls to replace plugged ones. Quite a distance from Kuching, and that place serves 100% vegetarian food only.

Kelab Golf Sarawak. This is cow grass course, 36 holes, also with a few soggy fairways, but lately with dry weather it's playable. Do not confuse this with Sarawak Club above. They are 2 different clubs.

Thanks nutty88 and freedrop.  Damai GCC is looking good.

Hornbill mountain course would have been interesting and cool but veggies not my thing.

Tabao noodles lor. That was what we did last time. Hornbill is a Buddhist sanctuary, so all veggies stuff but the taste isn't too bad lah. But don't expect fake shark fins, fake pork or fish like those in SG Vegetarian restaurants hor.
