How much to tip caddy? @ Bintan

Hi all

Was wondering what the 'market rate' is for tipping caddies.

Played at Bintan Ria course on Sunday, did 9 holes with 2 other friends and had 2 caddies with us. Didn't know how much to tip so we decided to give them SGD$50 ($25 each caddy). Too much or too little or about right?

Think the min is $10 per golfer for 18 holes.And you only did 9, the caddy should be happy. My normal practice is to give Rp 100,000 or 150,000 if the caddy is good.

But it depends on you.

Yes, typically, my baseline is SGD20 per 18-holes

Varies from individuals though.

Sngapore equivalent $20 is a good guide. If caddy is good - helpful, attentive - help you read yardage to pins, putting breaks .. I usually give $30 or even more especially Thailand where they have to pull the trolley in the hot sun - hard work!

Spoiled the market price for tips, next golfers
playing, the caddy expectation will be vey high
taken for granted all Singaporean gave generous tips
like Japanese tourists!

Local casual golfers there give Rp. 100,000 to Rp. 150,000, while local government officials give in the range of Rp. 200,000 up to even Rp. 500,000 and above. Just an idea...

So meaning I did not spoilt market. Lucky .

Japanese are not great tippers! They do not come from a culture of tipping. Government officials tip more as the money doesn't come from their salaries. 

A fair tip is between RP 100,000 to RP 150,000.
