I'm still new to golf. Completed my lessons and coach has already say I can get my PC already. Currently using R9 regular graphite shaft.

I am particularly interested in the AP2 that a bro is selling. It's on nspro stiff. Not sure if I can handle.

Experienced bro here, need your advise....

Thanks
I think its better if you go and try it AND decide if u're comfortable with it.

Its always better to use something you're more comfortable with it.

Alternatively, you can continue practising your own, until you get more consistent. THEN you can go and try the Irons and see what you are more comfortable with.

I think you should look for a club which gives you some forgiveness but not too much, and yet still maintain a blade-type approach. Perhaps the Mizuno JPX 800 Pro (forged) Smile Check out the Golf Digest Hot List for game improvement clubs... quite a good range there Smile
A wise recommendation as usual.

I think there's the JPX800 XD too right? Game improvement category too but haven't hit it off the green since no one around me had bought it yet.

The Jpx 800 XD or HD would be for beginners i think. Seen those. Not really impressive, more for starters.

Couple it with a graphite shaft, Regular Flex and u hear the nice *click*... IF YOU HIT IT RIGHT.

There's still the nasty *blop* sound if you top or toe the shot.

So I think there's only so much game improvement clubs can do if the user has no fundamentals.

Actually, I had the same thinking. Getting used to a not so forgiving club will help me improve in my swing, and of course I will need to bear with the ugly shots..

Anyone played both AP2 and R9 before? Any comments?
Different pple will have diff sch of thot.

I'm a 2 year old newbie n I'm using a blade set now. Not that I'm super good or talented, but its just that it forces me to focus on my basics n fundamentals. N if 1 day I were to be consistent w it, I know that I m somewhere there liao.

Just my humble 2 cents..

I thought the AP2 was almost as forgiving as the R9 ... not too sure about the older models, but the recent model AP2's are pretty easy to hit and quite forgiving on mishits as well ... as long as the shaft on them is suitable for you

Not sure how forgiving is AP2. I wanted to try a steel shaft to get more accuracy. I believe steel should offer more accuray than graphote..

Flex wise, I think it's R rather than S (I'm using R flex graphite now). Not sure what is the difference between R and S if I hit them.

I would like to second Slinger's advice.

Since you are still so new in golf, I would suggest you continue to use your R9 as it is a good set of irons afterall. AP2 will be more difficult to use as compared to R9. When I first started golf, I constantly used the excuse that players clubs will make me train harder just to justify the purchase. I have come to face reality that it is more the indian and less on the arrows.

I am not too sure how much difference in accuracy you get from changing from graphite to steel. Maybe the steel shafted club will have a total weight and swing weight that you like, maybe not. Just give it a try, however, while you are at it, can also try senior and stiff flex as well, u never know what you might like.

Food for thought ... I have a set of customized irons fitted to my swing speed and body dimensions etc etc etc ... However there are times that my shots are accurate and times that they are far from accurate ... hence, the logical conclusion is that my swing creates more variation in direction and distance than equipment.

To paraphrase Slinger (No bad equipment ... just bad golfers).
