Imagine....after 7 years of playing, only recently I gotten to know how to grip the club correctly.

Do seriously consider to go coaching if one is starting golf

also try to stick to a coach that you are comfortable with...

in this forum they got shorthitter , jhan18 , right sided coach which are qualiy and knowledgable about the golf swing and how to teach different person with different abilities
