Has anyone in the forum bought and tried the irons from Maltby?

Was browsing the web and noticed that their irons are relatively cheap as compared to other popular brands.

Especially interested in the following:

I bought a set of ladies iron and driver from them before. Good workmanship and quality. Easy to hit. Contemplating on getting a set of TE forged iron for myself...

yup. total clubs + assembly + freight + exchange rate more than 400 SGD, ended up paying for GST.... Sad

one way is to just buy the heads and have the shafts installed in singpoare.

anyway, i don't think shipping costs will count towards the requirement to pay GST.

ie if eg cost of clubs (SGD 399) + shipping (SGD 50), then there will be no GST charges.

I owned the MPC Forged CB two years ago

and recommended my friend to try the TE Forged CB.

Maltby's forged heads are very decent, quite easy to hit and have pretty soft feel for the price. Good if you don't want to spend too much $ and yet dun want second hand clubs.

however, their loft/lie sometimes are not accurate so better bring clubs to fitter to check

I think fully assembled clubs and shafts are the expensive ones to ship, because of size. Clubheads alone should be much cheaper. Maybe should organize a MO??? Very Happy

I have presumed that since they are specialized in club-fitting, most of the specs would be accurate. Thanks anyway, will bring them for a check-up once they arrived!

I've seen these heads over at sigma (can't remember which model), good finishing, but they seems to have weaker loft than usual. Tried hitting a 7i, relatively soft feel but its weak loft, massive sole and shallow face design did not work for me.

Maltby stuff are inexpensive and in my opinion well thought off in terms of playability and ease of use. its not marketed extensively and hence do not include hefty sponsor and advertising cost in the price of the product sold.

a little coarse in the product refinement area but still at that price, one really should not expect too much. most clubfitters used to offer these 6 to 10 years ago, there weren't many component options.

i remembering selling a lot of these when we first started.

When I came to the Den for the first time, I brought the Maltby MPC to be fitted with KBS

it seemed so long ago, when I was producing below 90 results regularly.

I mean sub 90 on my weight scale...blame those godsend duck rice Laughing

Hi
afraid cost of shiipping is included in the final cost. so in the above example, you will have to pay GST becaue costs + shipping > $400.

slazenger is right

There is a 7% Goods and Services Tax (GST) levied on all goods, inclusive of new articles, personal effects, souvenirs, gifts, food preparations and dutiable products, imported into Singapore. GST is calculated based on the CIF value (cost, insurance and freight) of the goods plus all duties payable. If the invoice value of goods does not include insurance and freight charges, the postage charge paid for the goods is to be taken as freight and insurance charges, and is to be added to the invoice value of such invoice for calculation of GST payable.

GST relief is granted on goods, inclusive of new articles, personal effects, souvenirs, gifts and food preparations but excluding dutiable products, imported by post to a total value not exceeding $400. Where the value exceeds $400, the entire sum would be subject to GST.

Placed my order earlier in the afternoon!

Only for the Tricept F2 clubheads (i3-PW). At the price of US$199.92/- excluding freight, i reckoned its worth a try.
