Many of my SG friends staying in JB planning to head back to SG. With the recent toll increased and now SG side follow suit,it no longer cheap. They ply to and fro daily. Property headache next... Sell? Who's buying!! Rent out their beautiful and well decorated home??? 1k,2k,3k...any takers? What will happen to your well maintain home????

That's what I mentioned few days ago. It's a matter of time. Rumours have it that the toll was to take effect from 15 September 2014 but LTA denied the date nor confirmation and wanted to investigate who started the rumour. Now it's confirmed but the date had changed to 1 October 2014 instead. Why do you think Najib visited Singapore recently for?

After some time when everyone gets use to it, people will still flock in.

Herd mentality coming up. One go test water and feel it's safe and the rest follow. Both governments know for sure Singaporeans cannot resist the temptation for long and will surely go in again after a lapse.

The herds already back, queue started to build up again.

Actual implementation details to be announced later, Malaysia still working that out.
The Malaysian govt has only agreed on the RM20 value.
Apparently they are considering similar charges for Thailand and Brunei too.

Local toll : $6.50
Malaysia Toll :Ringgit 16.50($6appx)
New cover charge(no free drink) R20 ($7appx)
$6.50+$6+$7 = $19.50
Unless go in for golf/massage/makan++ if not just go in for golf quickie given the amount of time spent traveling plus if jam not really worth it anymore already..

emmm.....will our garment now reduced the S$35 VEP charged on foreign vehicles, since they say policy on causeway toll is to match whatever is charged by Malaysia?? hehehez.....

Highly unlikely. VEP is used to control vehicle population in Singapore, especially those from Malaysia that don't meet the emission standards, not toll collection. So Singapore is entitled to collect any amount they want.

Over time, people will just get use to the amt. just split among the passenger, it's still bearable
