| Hi all,
has anyone tried to put 3 iron shaft (graphite) on a hybrid?
Any suggestion?
Thanks. | |

| A 3 iron shaft (graphite) is definitely too light on the hybrid head ... | |

| so if the shaft is heavy enough, would it be a problem? | |

| I am not an expert but I would build a hybrid shaft closer in flex to my irons than my woods. Reason is hybrid is played like an iron and for better accuracy (lower dispersion). For weight, lets say, if your driver is 60-65g, your woods is 70-75g ... Your hybrid should be 80-85g ideally ... You may wanna consult a club fitting professional like DGman from BFG, etc. for professional advice. | |

Thanks. There's no issue using long iron shaft for hybrid if the hosel size fits. I used to use the same MCI80 shaft for my irons & miura hybrid. Now I use V90 long iron shafts for my Tourstage UT hybrid to complement my irons in Modus 3. Light graphite hybrid shafts are also available if weight is your concern. First check the hosel size of your hybrid, then you can decide which shaft to select. By the way, you need to also check if the length of long iron shaft is sufficient for your intended hybrid.

| It is "doable" Iron shaft can fit into your hybrid club.
But first you must determine the swing weight of your 4 iron. If you can hit your 4 iron, your 3 hybrid, swing weight should be almost similar to your 4 iron sw ( swing weight )
Like is it "D 1 , D2, or D3?"
Secndly check the CPM http://www.clubmaker-online.com/hpm.choose.html
Your 5fw and your hybrid should almost be identical. Like my 3 and 5 Fw are 265cpm and my hybrids are between 250 -255.
When you have these info, a good clubmaker can assembled one for you.

| I have a Golf buddy who did this. He used his 3 iron shaft and put a Mizuno hybrid which worked wonders for him. His iron shaft were NS Pro 90 r flex.
The heavier your shaft the less distance. I have seen lighter shaft worked wonders for "short distance hitter>"
Honma Golf uses this theory that's why short hitters can gain extra advantage.
Hyrbid shaft in my humble opinion should be either 65 to 75 grams. If your golf hybrid becomes "too soft/ whippy on the tip" just add extra "tape"
I am talking based on experienced.
