Re-shaft 3 wood with driver shaft? Empty
PostSubject: Re-shaft 3 wood with driver shaft?   Re-shaft 3 wood with driver shaft? I_icon_minitimeSat Oct 22, 2011 1:03 pm

I bought a Adam golf 3 wood that I think the shaft is too stiff for me.

Is it possible to re-shaft to my old driver shaft?

Pls advice.

Thanks

The driver shaft might be too light for the 3 wood. Generally, driver shaft are usually lighter then the FW woods.

JonL_TK, is to use my old driver shaft to fit into 3 wood.

Artloh, that is my concerns too. If too light also problem. Ball will hook alot

Yes it can be done by a good club maker

from a 43 inch 3 wood shaft, the Good club maker will just add a 2inch extension shaft ( taken from old shaft ) and add it up and then "tape it"
using a masking tape. The masking tape will even up the 2 inch shaft extension to your 3 wood shaft.

But before you do that, have your current driver cpm be checked.
It is best you maintain your cpm. So that your driver won't either end up too whippy or too stiff

Happy club fixing

With due respect, 3 wood shaft are not "light"

Most often they have a weight of 65 to 70 grams

Nowadays, driver shaft are being made lighter

for example, Taylor Made drivers are ranging between 48 o 49grams

So, it is not advisable to have 55 g shaft for 3 wood? My current 3 wood is 70g, stiff.

Hey Guys,

The advice above sounds sensible, but how to explain that new Cleveland drivers that come with superlite Miyazki shaftt that is as light as 39 g ? Few pros are playing with lighter shaft also...

Am a bit confused on this ... . appreciate any comments or opinion....

Cheers...................

I just notice this....

Our driver being the biggest "head" amongst our golf toy are now being fitted with a lighter shaft weight. And 3 wood are being fitted with 65 to 79 grams shaft.

I think it is done to balance it.

Maybe DGMan can explain further why
