Hello Folks,

A word of caution. Bring the lightest bag that you can find as there is a slight chance that you may have to carry your own bag. This is Fasting month and caddies may choose not to come to work as they are not salaried employees of the club. Their earnings are through our tips.

I have already transferred my clubs to a light carry bag in anticipation of me carrying it. In addition, even if there are caddies, it will be rather considerate that we lighten their load with lighter bags. Again, don't be surprised that it may be two bags per caddie.

This is what's in my lighter bag now:
1) Smaller water bottle that carries enough water to last 9 holes. You can refill at the clubhouse for the 2nd 9.
2) Lesser balls in the bag. About 4 balls. Keep some in the car for the 2nd 9.
3) I don't use an umbrella, so I leave it in the car.

That water bottle is usually the heaviest of all the other accessories listed above. By using a smaller one, it greatly reduces the weight of the bag.

Another tip: After hitting your shot, walk to your ball with your club in hand. Saves time and reduces the weight that the caddie has to carry.

Let's be considerate during the Fasting month. It's gonna be hard for the caddies, muslims or non muslim.

Denmeister - well said. As much as the caddies are meant to work, the task is also difficult for them. If they do a good job, reward them well. It's the fasting month which leads to Hari Raya for them so the money is needed for their family.

I also agree. If you're not a PGA player, try and go easy with the bag. Don't be a hero and bring 3 dozen balls, spare shoes, towels etc. And if you carry water, consider carrying it yourself as you walk

Lastly, if you do consume food and drinks, be considerate. The caddies are fasting so it's inappropriate and impolite to down your drinks and munch on your sandwiches in front of them.

i am lucky that i am playing DWK for the last round at starhill if not i won't be able to communicate with the caddy.

If you want to book a caddie, the club will not be able to do that for you as the caddies are not their employees. You can however, get the caddie's direct contact number and make arrangements with them. Again, if you choose to do so, their tips will need to be higher. RM60.00 should be the minimum.
